User-Contributed Transcription Bangor June 13 54De Quoin July 1 54 Tuesday night June 13, 1854. {Bangor}My dearest Isaac, Your letter written at Virginia Hotel, St. Louise, June 4 - reached here yesterday having been just one week on the way -came with speed did it not? Don't I wish they would all come so. O how good it is to see your hand writing when letters come. I am very glad you felt so finely - so little fatigued on reaching St. Louis. I do not wonder you fell asleep on the sabbath - after your night journeyings. By this time you are absorbed again in R.R. matters. I hope to know soon where your stopping place is to be - office etc. Our long anticipated journey East all past - can it be? And you so far away from me & our little Mayo baby as can be. Don't get too much absorbed. Mr. Shepherd said in his remarks last sabbath - "God says, ' let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord.' Mammon says, 'Let everything that hath muscle, dig.'"
