User-Contributed Transcription Putnam. So I ventured to ring the bell and ask for them and so doing learned that Carrie would be home from her teaching in half an hour. So I sat down and waited with her aunt, a very cordial, pleasant fine appearing lady, perhaps forty five years old. Carrie wad delighted to see me and said Frances was to close her school that night (as she also did) and was going to her home in Pembroke Friday, so we should be together as far as Manchester. They urged me so much to stay there over night that Carrie & I went over to the Hotel and got my night clothes and went to the office and told them I would take the key to my room and be back to go down with my trunk to the Depot at Eleven the next day. This was pleasanter than sleeping at Hotel alone. I had a fine time with cousins & with Mr. & Mrs. Porter & had company to Manchester. Got to Parker's at
