User-Contributed Transcription mother about Kossuth. Our last paper contains an abstract of Charles Summer's speech in Congress in regard to him. We are all very much interested in whatever pertains to Kossuth, of course.I read some railroad notices too, one of which father thinks I had better copy for you, though it may be you have known about it already. It is in relation to the "Air Line Railroad" between New York and Boston and is as follows - "The subscription to the New-York to Boston (on Air Line) Railroad, exceeded on the 12 of December inst., one million of dollars, a sum required to be subscribed by that day to prevent a forfeiture of former subscriptions, made on that condition. This, it is supposed, will ensure the construction of the road."*We were thinking the line of the road, might furnish a pleasant and healthy location. Will the failure of this 15 million loan from England, for the Illinois Central Road, make any difference in regard to the progress and completion of the Road?Another paragraph in the same paper says the work is soon to be put under contract.I was much interested in what your last letter tells me of the churches and preaching in Jonesboro, and of the manner in which your
