User-Contributed Transcription Feb. 4. Sabbath. Unusual service was preached the congregation. O1 that God's spirit would come, with its almighty energies, and rouse us, who profess to be Christians, from our slumbers, and convict & convert sinners. Have been thinking to night of the dear band of teachers now laboring in the west. It is my prayer that they may have god's blessing and be the instruments of great and lasting good. I do feel more and more that the West is a field of very great importance. The work of evangelising it is the work of God, and he will carry it forward.Feb. 11. Sabbath. Mr. Ellis preached in the afternoon in behalf of Western Colleges, and Mr. Emerson in the forenoon presented the cause of the Protestant Society, exceedingly interesting. Yesterday received a Report of the Board of Ed. at the West. It made me feel as if I could hardly remain at home- it is a glorious work, this in which they are engaged, it is god's work. O may he prosper those employed in it- may they see of the fruit of their labors in the commission of many souls.
