User-Contributed Transcription Mother Hampden30 May 1850 Hampden 30th May 1850My Dear ChildrenI will just speak a word or two to tell you that I arrived safely before dark-rather rough, muddy travelling but I was not very indeed tir'd found Lucy-getting better she says-but she is rather slim. She rode out a little way today tho' she cannot sit up more than an hour at a time she has been very sick-but begins to have a little appetite now-she thinks she shall soon be considerably better-she probably took cold and she has worked too hard & I don't believe she will be so well as she was before for some time-Sam'l got a skien of black worsted for card & four tassels for the pall cloth-at 1/apiece the skien, 10 cents I don't think it will take near all the worsted if there is enough left to foot a pr stockings I'll take it-if they wish.I hope you will all of you, encourage and assist Mr Temple in his Labor of Love----I do advise & labor & strive with J Dolen he must be car'd for---prayed for and arrested in his downward course. How much good he may do in the world if now he should turn and set out in a right course.I'm afraid you wont all be faithful about getting pay for preaching---Sam'l will speak to Mr Cutts about carrying cheap-think he will for a
