User-Contributed Transcription Your children Almeda are getting along all nice apparently ever so much better, probably, than if you were with them, I guess Lucy makes quite a housekeeper probably she will not get your sewing done but you can soon do that when you return. James complain'd a little of a lame stomach did n't want to go to prayer meeting nor have Lucy. C. & Albina went up to the school house but as it happen'd there was no meeting Mr Wilson has not returned to this town or had not last night. Tis suppos'd that he can have the Carver house 3/4 mile from The Village if he wants itReport says that Mr Robert Cutts has a very bad knee has to have watchers every night Some suppose he will be under the necessity of having his limb taken off but probably Sam'l is better informed about it than we are - Charles will go to The Village monday after noon Do come Monday Tis enough to make a smarter woman than Lucy nervous at least to have have 3 such great smart Maids to Manage as Nurse Almeda & you. If Almeda gets corner'd she can call on Mrs Finnigan Lucy must think & be careful of herselfMrs Polly Sargent is sick - had the Dr., is some better now Inflamation of the Bowels - worked to hard & took coldI told Lucy to bring her washing down here & I'd help her do it but she wash'd herself before I knew it such things as she thought would be needed, wash'd her floors, & Iron'd yesterday
