User-Contributed Transcription Milo Mother Nov 23-1853Du Quoin Dec 10, 1853Milo Nov 23rd 1853My Dear SonI have written two letters to you within the past week informing you that Charles & Mr. John Gilman are preparing to go to Du Quoin. I write yet again because Charles wished you to know as soon as may be the Bargain he has made with Gilman. So that you may be all ready to set him to workCharles wants to go and we are wishing to have him cheifly because we think it would be better for his health. He has had a hard cough every winter for 3 years we hope by going there he will get rid of it. He think it would be for his advantage to have Gilman with him and we all now rather he would have company on the way. He had considerable parley with Gilman but firmly agree'd to give him $250 & his board for six months work commencing on the second Monday in December & pay his ordinary travelling expenses from Bangor to Du Quoin. Since closing the bargain & making writings Charles is afraid he is running to much risk fearing you may not have work ready or wages will not be so high or something. C says Gilman is a good work man he did our little meeting house all of it is an excellent Framer. Says he will work faithfully and if sick will make up the time & Charles can have
