User-Contributed Transcription why you cant perhaps your Father or Somebody may be coming so that you could save a part of the expense but if not you can come in the stage it isn't much it will do you more good than the trouble & cost. My love to Waller & Sally & George and all the folks. Do write again soon. It is worth a great deal to have such a girl a Lucy has got not only capable & smart to work but what is more is so kind hearted cheerful & good natur'd - but we dont know how long it will lastSabbath morning Sam'l Eliab & Lucy are gone to meeting. Mariah says she feels well enough to come downstairs She is really very smart & well. She thinks that she has receiv'd very great benefit from bathing not in cold water but just warm enough to be pleasant. She has taken sits baths almost every day till she was sick means to again I believe in a day or two I went to meeting all day last Sabbath heard Mr. Adams of New Jersey in the forenoon & Mr. Shepperd in the afternoon. Today have heard an excellent sermon by Dr. Clark of Hartford from Math 5 - 4 he made it out that all sorrow & greif is the fruit of sin. And the thought came to me - is not Albina's present distress & sorrow the fruit of selling her affections to much things of earth thinking more of Charles than of Him who Claims the whole heart - and will not permit his own dear Children to set anything else above him in their affections - but will send trials of some sort to warn them back to himself the fountain of all good of all
