User-Contributed Transcription Charles thinks he cannot get ready to go to Bangor till next weekMr. Hatch says he can lend you a Classical Dictionary Sep. 16th 1838I find I have made a mistake with regard to the chronology of my letter calling Sat. the 14th of Sept. the 15th- you can rectify the mistakes yourself.Today being rainy Joe went to Gullum in the forenoon- them shoes aint done yet - & in the afternoon went up to Booby brook & caught 2 pike, perch & chub. Mr. Hatch expects to start tomorrow morning. They talk of sending you Ann's small Bible the first chance. 2 letters are to be sent you for Boston by Mr. Hatch I believe. Dear, there is something I want to write to you I believe but I am so sleepy, I can't think. I guess it is not much consequence. Your calf-skin shoes were pronounced not worth the mending but I guess we'll send them - they'll do to slip on now & then. Send Umbrella, Shoes, a Bible before long. My Son Isaac Mr. Hatch says that Mr. Pomroy has had no boy with him of late what a capital place it would be for your Dear brother Joseph if he could get it- you had better be a reconnoitering about there and see whether there is any good chance he could do well at home this winter if Ann is here all the time but you know he'd have a good many hindrances and his religious privileges would be so much greater there.perhaps you had better go to Mr. P. and ask him whether he wants a boy to do chores and go to school I think Joseph would suit him if he could once get acquainted but do as you think best about asking - perhaps he's got a boy
