Dear Gladys and Jack,
Thanks very much for your card
and the enclosed tracts. Our Christmas greetings
are being mailed a bit late, as usual.
The time has indeed passed quickly since
last December when you were here, Jack. That
was a great reunion of Conroy fans, one that
we think back on very frequently.
This has been some year. We thought all
our troubles would be over with the departure
of R.M. Nixon, but they weren't. We now have
inflation, recession, and unemployment. Let's hope
that Ford, Rockefeller and Co. will be able to
do something during 1975. Anyway, even though
we are critical of the present administration, we
do feel that it's much better than the one run
by [?] and Erlichman.
I've been reading Plain Speaking, about
Harry Truman. On the whole I like that guy
better than any President of recent times. (Anybody
from Missouri can't be all bad.)
At my school we had a few days of rioting-
fighting between blacks and Mexicans, about 8 or
10 days ago. We had to have 20 or 25 extra cops
assigned to the school for a while.
We haven't managed to look up the Nov. 2
review of Writers in Revolt yet, but should get time
to do that during this next week. The last thing I
recall reading of yours was a fairly recent book
review on an Horatio Alger biography.
We hope that you are both well and keeping
busy in an enjoyable way.
Best wishes,
Anne and Warren
