Dear Gladys & Jack,
We finally returned home last
Thursday evening, a couple of weary
travelers.
After leaving Moberly we went to
Lake of the Ozarks where, for a good bit
of the time, we were confined to the quarters
on account of very heavy rain storms.
As you said, the area is quite commercial.
Fortunately, we were there out of season
so it was not crowded. After spending
two nights there we headed East to
visit my brother in Washington, D.C. We
got the impression there was even greater
unrest in that city than there is in Chicago,
Policemen on foot travel in 3's often
accompanied by a police dog and they
all walk with one hand clutching a
club. These are really lovely times!
