very thin- skin & bones. I only weigh
116 pounds and am, after all, 6 feet tall. So the
[?] is to gain, but so far for 2 or 3 months it
stays about the same, within a couple of pounds of the 116 lb.
figure. Another problem I have is a hole in my chest
from the surgery that refuses to close completely & every
day there is drainage (pus) from that wound. Anne, who
has turned out to be a wonderful nurse, puts antiseptic
on the wound,  helps me with a warm shower, &
changes the dressing on the wound every day.
So- I feel that even with the problems
I have, I'm lucky to be alive & perhaps I'll live a
few more years & maybe even some good years. But I
really have been hit with a double whammy. Either
one of the operations was enough to kill a person in
many cases and I had 2 o f them, about one month apart
(I entered the hospital in the middle of August and  was
discharged about the middle of October- about exactly
2 months in all, which is a long stay in a hospital.)
I don't think any single man, [?] or widower[?] who
had the same operations that I have had would still be
alive. Anne [?] me for half a day every day I
was in the hospital and has been on 24 hr. nursing
duty ever since I've been home. She has been very [?]
