Box 756 - Oct 22, 1969 Dear Jack - You gave me the address of Robert Lorenz, one of the former editors of underline LEFT /underline (Davenport, Iowa) - I have just checked underline The Little Magazine: A History & Bibliography /underline by Frederick J. Hoffman, et al - it was underline The LEFT, /underline Editors: George Redfield (dead, a suicide you said it was surmised), Jay du Von (dead), R.C. Lorenz (dead - I finally got around to writing a letter to him and the letter was returned to me today - marked on envelope - reason for return to writer - addressee - "deceased"), W.K. Jordan and Marvin Klein -, I take Marvin Klein to be Herb Klein (not the one on Nixon's staff) - The editor associated with underline The Left /underline who later produced and/or directed the filming of Steinbeck's underline The Pearl /underline in Mexico and the documentary about Hitler's take over of Czechoslovakia - a film called underline Crisis /underline as I recall. Herb Klein was also in Spain during the Spanish Civil War - He went all over Madrid telling everybody that the reason nobody could buy any rye or bourbon whiskey in Spain was because Ernest Hemingway had drunk all of it.
