Dear Jack:
"Any place but here"
arrived. It has the bad habit
of keeping me awake at
night reading it. I got through
chapter III before I could get
back to bed.
Americans would like to flee
from their capitolistic paradise;
and, since, they cannot get away,
they resort to escapist literature
full of sexual confusion. During the
middle 1920's, E. Halderman[?]
Julius, who published "The Little
Blue Books" at Girard, Kansas,
often came to Kansas City, Missouri,
to attend the Unitarian church
where Dr. Leon Birkhead acted
as minister, and I acted as the
usher. Julius would often relate
to us his tactics in getting restless
country boys into the habit of reading
Greek and other classical literature
by affixing sexy titles to hi
