take a city that has been maligned & scoffed at for its grimy-sooty-sordid appearance--for its stretched out-monotones of all sorts--& you transfigure it with splashes of radiant colors--you transform everything with your wizardry of words--
When I am longing for Broadway & Fifth Ave--for the harbor & the Statue of Liberty--for the "thrill" that New York can create in the most supine moment of the Soul--you appear in the corner of a "daily" & shout:- "Wake up - Chicago is at your feet--city of [[?]] and Glorious Accomplishment! I look--& behold--it is so--(while I read)
All of which is to state that I think you are a master of the written word--& I cannot help but thank you--
Cordially,
Bertha A. Loeb
