Description Drawing No. 7. Portrait of Little Crow (Taoyateduta), hereditary chief of Kaposia band of Dakota Indians, seated holding long pipe with beadwork. He wears a split horn headdress with weasel tails, robe, and moccasins. Flag in background (20-plus stripes, eagle). Captions: "Weasel tails. Duck head feathers. Porcupine quills. Duck. Red horse hair. Pipe inlaid with lead. Cha-tau-wah-ko-wah-ma-nee: the hawk that chases walking--alias Little Crow or Petit Corbeau. F.M. Traverse de Sioux camp. July 2 1851."
