SENDING YOU GREETINGS
Dear Jack + Gladys: We have survived our jaunt to the Continent, despite two wailing kids who wanted desper-ately to spend each day, all day, in a hotel room, + have managed to get our VW, miraculously unmarred despite the insane drivers of Ger-many + France, back to England. On completely insufficient evidence we have concluded that we like the Swiss, the Dutch, the French, + the English, while we found the Germans boisterous, arrogant, + discourteous. — We now have a house in Oulton, + I plan a social, + unproductive, year. The English at the Univ. of Keele seem to spend most of their day in the commons room: Coffee (11); Coffee (2): Tea (3:30); Sherry (4:30). The faculty bar opens at 6 PM, but my wife makes me come home for dinner. Love,
