Dear Jack + Gladys:
It's been good to see the renewed output of you, Jack, + I'm really looking forward to seeing the completed autobiography. With the renewed interest in the thirties, I would think there might be a good chance for considerable sales. At any rate, I hope so.
As for the Lights, we are all together now + in good health. Jama finished her first year at Greenwich High School + eventually managed to make some good friends, so that she's relatively happy (she'll never be very happy, I fear) until we move again (which isn't likely until she's finished high school). She's still crazy about animals, + we sent her off to a riding camp a couple of days ago. I hope she finds a horse there that she can love.
Matt finished his first year at the Univ. of Connecticut, taking most of his courses in English, most specifically in creative writing. This summer he's spent between working at McDonald's (frying hamburgers) + writing. Tomorrow he + a friend of his are setting off to hitch to Fresno. It's not a plan I'm fond of, but there's not much I can do about it since there are girls in Fresno + he's eighteen years old. I assume I'll get a phone call from somewhere in Wyoming in a week or so, + then I'll respond as I must.
