Each day The Times flings at my door
This world of fury, lust, and fear,
Where violence rides throughout the town
And stocks go up while live go down.
Each Sunday some folk meet to pray
And worship Him in their own way.
The rest of us seek thrills elsewhere
In liquor, gambling, cocaine, air.
Each month the moon moves round the earth
And vows we pledge with pretty lies,
But youth fades fast and bones decay,
And love that cannot die -- it dies.
Yet every year at Christmastide
The Evergreen renews our trust,
And children play in snow so white
It almost blinds the eye with light.
