Description
Folio 1r, front inside cover. On vellum, probably transcribed around 1500. A version of Aesop's fables in Latin verse, followed by Matthew de Vendôme's poem on the Biblical patriarch, Tobias. This version of Aesop's fables, consisting of two books containing 55 fables, is generally thought to have been written by Matthew l'Anglais, probably around 1175. Tobias, by the 12th century Latin poet, Matthew de Vendôme, is based on the account by St. Jerome. Text in a humanistic hand in brown ink.
