Summary Letter written by Charles Gookin, Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania, to Francis Nicholson and Samuel Vetch on June 17, 1709. In this letter Gookin Writes that the Pennsylvania Assembly has refused to raise funds directly or indirectly to support a military expedition to Canada.

Biographical/Historical Note Francis Nicholson and Samuel Vetch were actively engaged in the military conquest of Nova Scotia during Queen Anne's War, 1702-1713. During the spring of 1709 a joint attack against Port Royal, Nova Scotia was proposed, but the expedition was aborted due to the lack of sufficient supplies and troops.
