Summary Letter written by Humboldt from the Paris Observatory to Thomas Jefferson dated Dec. 26, 1811. In this letter Humboldt requests for a second time that ten pounds of tobacco seed from Virginia and four pounds of tobacco from Maryland be procured and sent to him. 
Biographical/Historical Note Alexander von Humboldt, German naturalist and explorer, devoted much of his life to the study of plant life throughout the world and collected nearly 60,000 specimens.
