Letter written on a blank fragment of an earlier letter addressed to John Williams on the verso.
Summary
May 14, 1716, note from Williams to his son, Stephen, regarding his correspondence with another son, Warham, and his intention to travel to Boston. Williams also asks Stephen to send word of his sister, Eunice, when and if he heard from her. Eunice had not been redeemed from captivity and had been adopted by a Mohawk family.
Biographical/Historical Note
Deerfield, Mass., clergyman and author captured with his family in 1703/1704 by French and Indians and taken to Canada. Williams was released in 1706 and returned to his Deerfield ministry in 1707. After graduating from Harvard in 1713, his son, Stephen, began a sixty-six year ministry in Longmeadow.
