Summary Deed, Feb. 17, 1721/22, from Nathan St. John to the proprietors of Ridgefield, Conn., restoring to the town over six acres of land "which over and above my right was laid out unto me in ye first ten acre division."  In return St. John was grant five acres in the "Additional Division So Called."  The deed is signed and sealed by "Nathan Stjohn," is witnessed by Thomas Hauley and Ebenezer Smith, is acknowledged by Richard Osburn (justice), and is recorded (on verso) by Thos. Hauley (register) 
Biographical/Historical Note Ridgefield, Conn., public official and son of Matthias St. John, one of the original proprietors of the town. In February, 1716/17, Matthias St. John deeded to his son all his right to land in the town.  Subsequently, Nathan St. John became a large landholder, having also received several additional grants from the proprietors.
