It was a very pretty ball + I had a most stunning time; a numer of new officers were introduced to me, + I was engaged for every dance, + asked for a great many more.- Hattie Warren was there also, in her first long dress.- So many officers come to see us now that it is a great bore; there were six in last night when we did not expect anyone. General Sheridan arrived here last night; he drove with Sister + I all the afternoon, we drove to the "Place d'Armes" to see a base-ball match between the Franklin + Plymouth. Everyone stared at the General as though he had been a pearl of great price. He has had a most splendid time, + was with the Prussian army, for more than two months, + he has been received everywhere with the greatest distinction.-
