The journal contains a copy in Picken's handwriting (dated "Commisioners Camp near Fort Wilkinson, 27th May 1802") of a ms. by Benjamin Hawkins entitled "A sketch of the creek country in the years 1798 & 1799."  The ms. is followed by "Continuation of the talks between the Commissioners of the United States & the Chiefs of the Creek Nation - 13th of June 1802," which contains meeting proceedings and a copy of the "Treaty of Limits between the United States of America & the Creek Nation of Indians."  In this treaty, dated June 16, 1802, the Creeks ceded two tracts of land and obtained annuities, goods, and debt payments.  Also a fragment, June 18, 1802, in the handwriting of Benjamin Hawkins, recording negotiations with a Cherokee delegation that had come to Fort Wilkinson to witness the proceedings and request action regarding white settlers on tribal lands.
