User-Contributed Transcription The Washington Monument — This was the first mon-ument to be erected in honor of George Washington. It is located at Mt. Vernon and Washington places and is 204 feet high. The 16-foot statue of Washington which sur-mounts the doric column, was carved by Henrico Caucici, Italian sculptor.
