User-Contributed Transcription they'll be interested enough in me to offer me what I want is something I don't know. I hope so.
Anyway things have been so drab here that I've even began to write again, after my fashion. I'm trying to do a novel about a man who, very sanely, m[[?]] the philosophic conclusion that in the present world only the insane can be happy. The problem, then, is for him to break the mind, to get into an insane asylum + not only get there but to belong there. The idea of course is Westian, but the style, I hope, is not so deri-vative, even if not as good. I've thought I might write to the Yaddo people + see if I could spend a couple of weeks there this summer, probably from August 21 or so, for I'll have to teach during the rest of the summer in order to live. I doubt if Yaddo would want me there, but if you remember whom I should write to, I would appreciate the name of the dame. (In my world of dreams I sometimes think how nice it would be if the two of us could cavort at the Sportsman's Grill during August.)
Now, you kiss Gladys for me, tell Daffy-dill I wish I could have seen more of him, but that he certainly seemed a changed man, + changed for the better, + [[?]] keep yourself mentally clean, morally [[?]]ight, + ready to h[[?]] all D[[?]]s, the [[?]]rs.
H[[?]] kisses,
[[?]]
