Jeffery Chicago, ILL 60649 U.S.A. right side, typed INCIDENT AT VICHY. Forgive typewriter. I've written letters to congressmen and U.S. Senators when Miller was denied a passport some years ago, so expected him to be a somewhat better person. Strange how people are about money. Louie Nizer in MY LIFE IN COURT hammered hell out of Chaplin, that another guy who was away about money, and another guy I liked for what his enemies did to him, and whose performances always delighted me, and I remember him as far back as 1914. Well, Spring has sprung, though nights are like Calif. nights and require fires yet. Don't know if we'll ever get this "terrace house?" to look like anything humans inhabit, but even now it's supposed to be the best on the block, which isn't saying much. The door is open, will always be to you and Mrs. C., and I am many, many times obliged to you by this time. Will write more soon. We're both delighted with the LABOUR (sic0 win, as these poor, simple people over here need all the kindness that can be shown, and the Tories are a vicious lot - responsible for a housing situation without parallel. Here we are 20 and more years after a war and many thousands homeless, many, many families are living in one lousy room. This town is Tory, though the Tory candidate got a good scare this time. Muchas gracias and salud y dinero Many thanks and health & money, from, signed F. Mead. continued handwriting P.S. Also received the literary Magazine. No newspapers today a/c religious half-assed semi-holiday. F.M.
