This was probably the case in this instance.
Sypher & Co. showed me, in October, at their store in N.Y., an ivory medalion of the [[Gov.?]] about 4" X 3 1/2" (inches) in size which they found recently in a London dealers hands, of which they were wholly unable to get any traces of former ownership. This medalion they had just sold for $850. to some customer.
I hoped my Agt could trace the history of these paintings, for [[?]] [[?]] [[?]] but it seems he could not. Very truly ours
