User-Contributed Transcription Seince father left here we have had very wet and warm weather, for the week last past the mercury had stood at about 95 degrees in the shade at noon, every thing is growing speedy and finely, I have a few hills of corn in my garden that was planted about the 25th of May, and it had been in full silk for a week, I should suppose from present appearance that it might be ripe in about four weeks nowI have been very busy in finishing my house all the fire part of the season, and am now cutting my hay, my grain harvest will come on in about two weeks, and our full electioneering campaign is just opening, expect to be mixed up in it to some extent, after the canvas is over I will give you the detailsI have been mowing to day, and it is now between 9 and 10 o clock in the eve and I must bid you good night.Say to Lucy that we expect to see her out here before many years, I think she must have her hands full to take care of all her children, cows pigs and chickins, you should be very attentive and help to rock the cradleRemember me to all my friends there are many of them I should like to seeJoseph, W.
