User-Contributed Transcription Cottage Grove April 10th 1850Brother SamuelYours of March 1st was received on the 8th instI am glad to hear that you are in good health and living easy, taking the world cooly, I suppose that ere this reaches you Father will have left for Minnesota, I wrote him about this weeks sience, Soliciting him to bring (in case he comes) eather Mother or Mehitable, and I hope he will consider favorably my request, If mother thinkes that she cannot come I cannot see any reason why Mehitable cannot come out with him, as much now as a year henceShould father move west I cannot well conclude how you will be able to content yourself within the neighborhood of Milo, I am well aware that it must be a much more severe task to be there left, as it were, alone in the hands of your fathers than it is for one to leave their fathers hands and family and travel nth? a far and distant country and sojourn among strangers entirely
