User-Contributed Transcription St. Paul Aug 1st 1857Dear MotherIsacc's of the 23rd and yours of the 24th and 7 of July reached me this morning and wasn't I glad to hear from you? I had really began to worry for fear that some of you were very sick, but am happy now to know that you are all so well. hope to keep hearing "that same", I should have enjoyed the trip to the Lake shore with you very much no doubt, I wish that it were not so far to Ohio, I have not heard from Theodore since I last wrote you, have heard but once since I came back, have heard nothing from Maine, except by Mr Jacob C. Smith whom I spent in Wis on way home. He came into the office a few days since with some scraps of Bangor items, it appears that a daughter of A.M. Roberts, another of Dr Rich who died a few years since, both of them Granddaughters of old Dr Rich and the second daughter of Tho's A. White have been courting the boys a little too fast, and as old Socabeson? said are -- "very sorry on't" "a'la Worcester", isn't Bangor smart?I don't know of anything at present that would be of particular interest to you. Our two Constitutional Conventions are each building a Constitution, if with these they will give the
