User-Contributed Transcription an elevation of thought and character beyond the reach of one whose life is confined to narrower spheres of polished hallsI was very much interested yesterday in two meetings held here by Mr Van Metre of the five points Mission school, who is looking up homes for children he had three little boys here, he gave an account of their operations, and presented the claims of these destitute children in a simple, clean and most affecting manner. the sympathies of all were arroused and few could listin to him with dry eyes. I think it is good to have our sympathies thus wrought upon, so that we may be led to say"O give me tears for others woe And patience for my own"The weather here is very cold it has snowed almost every day for a week past untill to day I do not think it is any more
