User-Contributed Transcription been tenderly thoughtful for my welfare, has this far been my lot; and I don't know as I have any reason to doubt the continuance of this happiness with another home and a new friend; still, I know not what may be before me. I can hope and trust. To both of you, and indeed to all my brothers, I feel that I owe a debt of gratitude which I can never repay. For all your kindness, and especially for the tender regard for my feelings which you have ever manifested, I most sincerely and heartily thank you. If I felt perfectly sure of recieving from another friend, the kindness, in every respect, which I have always recieved from my brothers, I would ask no more; - and even though I have perfect confidence in the sincerity and strength of his attachment, still, it is not without a deep struggle of feeling that I can look forward to the day when I shall forsake, as it were, the home of my childhood, and those loved ones who have ever proved true and kind, to such a new home, and entrust the keeping of my happiness to a new friend. In connection with this change, there is, mingled with hope for the future, a feeling of sadness in thinking of the past, which I can hardly describe, and which I know not why I should feel. As brother and sisters we have enjoyed much. When all at home together, years ago; and still later, though separated much of the time, our affection for each other has not been diminished. I have always joyfully confided and trusted in my brothers perfectly, fully. In return they have given me confidence, kindness and affection. In this, dear brothers, may there be no change in any of us. Change of situation need not occasion change of feeling. I tell Mother these are my "Halycon days,"
