User-Contributed Transcription things all ready, and even baked an over full of good things yesterday, preparatory, but - Mr. Hathorne is very anxious for Samuel to go in there, as he is going to move to Bangor into the Cooper house in about a fortnight - so we e'en concluded to wait and go there - we like the house much better - more convenient, pleasanter situation, and nearer the mill - we have it this winter for the same rent we should pay for the little house - forty dollars a year - and next year pay eighty dollars. I am of course glad on the whole, but am some disappointed that we cannot move sooner. Pa Crosby has the hypo terribly, and Grandma is very sick, so I know they want us to move. I think I begin to write to you pretty soon after you go away - but I could'nt help talking a little to you, as I could'nt see you, What did you do for comforters etc. I was going to let you have some things. Guess I'll leave this now, and finish some other day. Had letters from Isaac & Cousin Maria last week. I did threaten to go right home with Charles - how lonesome poor Mother will feel.Oct. 20th Samuel began his letter on the next page, so I'll finish out this one. Grandma has been very sick indeed. It has seemed for a few days as she could not love, but she seems a little more comfortable this morning. Mr. Crosby has the hypo by spells all the fall pretty bad. Eliab seems to feel quite encouraged about you - much pleased that you feel into lady Purley's care. I have often heard her spoken of as a fine woman.
