User-Contributed Transcription scholars in all - about 40 constant attendants. A lot of awful ugly boys came in this week. Oh, how I do have to "train round." The young ones here are ten times as uneasy, fidgety, fussing & flyaway here as they are in the country farther. There are some bright forward scholars and some terrible stupid things. I wish you could hear the Whitcombs & Graffams read once. They are past as much worse than Mary Fredrick, as she is worse than Tom Mitchell. One of 'em set out to spell sent 'tother day, thought of it a spell, & said t,h,a,d, sent. That is a specimen. However The Mowers & Garmans are bright enough to make up for their deficiencies.My scholars do sing beautifully. I wish you could hear them, Though I don't suppose that would interest you as much as it does me.A Student - don't know his name - preached, or rather expounded, he used no notes, here last Sabbath, and organized a Sabbath School. Mr. Dodge is coming next Sunday. The people don't turn out a bit here. They don't seem to be "go to meeting folks." We might have quite a S. School if all the school children would go, but there were only fifteen last
