User-Contributed Transcription Milo Apr. 17th 1845.Dear Brother Joseph Here I am at home; - being released from my bondage in Hobbhood last Sat. night. I saw nothing of any S.S.C. untill the last afternoon when Dr. Kimball came in. He had been there only about fifteen minutes, or so, when he was called out to go to Williamsburg on business, relating to his profession. I got along nicely in school till the last week, when a big boy fourteen years old, on account of some pique he had with another scholar, would'nt take his place right in the class, and when I told him to behave, he said "I shant" and doubled up his fist, so I ejected him from school. He was a very clever boy all winter before, and came to school next day shamed as a dog and good as a kitten and humble as you please. Don't you think I found a pretty girl up there about six years old and brought her home for Charles 'cause he has'nt any of his own. Her parents will give her away, if they find a good place. I don't know whether we shall keep her for good, and name her "Jane Rich" or not. What say? eh? Charles has hired a man named Samuel Hobbs, lately moved up from Frankfort for six months, at $10.00 for first month, and 11 or 12 for the rest, coming next week. 19 years old. Eliab went to Bangor[top upside down]Charles talks of sending to you to go to Mr. Morrison and get an execution John Millbrock axle? trustee writ for Mr. Edler Lord but he don't know about his given name is Chs Gershorn. Charles says call and get them.
