User-Contributed Transcription Milo Sept. 10th 1849.Very Dear Brother It is monday - which means washing day you know- almost dinner time, but as I think it is high time to send you a letter, I will write a little, and get Samuel to finish it while I am getting ready to go to the Village this afternoon. We came from Bangor last Teusday - a week tomo now. I did not receive you letter in season to answer it before we left, and you know how almost impossible it is to write a letter for the first few days after getting home. The mill stopped a little more than a week ago for lack of lumber to saw, and very glad was I, as just about then the Cholera broke out in Bangor, and I wanted to come to Milo - but Samuel will tell you about that. We intended to have our Daguerreotypes taken before we came away. These - just this minute Samuel spirited water through the trumpet on to me and the paper, so you need'nt think the drops are my tears! Well, when we go back, if nothing happens, we will have them, and as you wish I will send one to you. I am fixing your shirts - putting in new linen - and if you do not come home & wish me to, I will send them. I am making them over so I think they will set well. I do hope you can come home and drive up about having the house finished. It is very much needed, and everything takes as long to move here you know. Your letter was received last week.
