User-Contributed Transcription We cannot even ride out with him at all, he is so weak and so easily gets fatigued. We take him but in arms a few steps two or three times a day, but if we stay a little too long, he is so tired that it injures him for a day or two. We have to be extremely careful that he does not look too long, nor sit up too long, or stay awake too long, else his disease is aggravated. It seems to have taken a chronic form & the Dr. says it will take him a good while to get well. Besides he is so poor that he gets cold very quickly, & his little limb will feel almost like frog's flesh. We feel that he is really gaining now, but very, very slowly. I cannot tell you how very glad we should be to take him to your mountain home, but it cannot be, this fall. I don't wish you could see him, for you would feel so bad to see how the skin lies in folds on his own little & fat body. Albina & little Mary came down a week ago yesterday - Wednes. Mary was taken very suddenly sick with cholera infantum.[left-hand side] then - when alas! Maria unwittingly filled it with flowers, pouring in water & swelling them. I saved only six & those not so good as the last ones - sorry am I!
