User-Contributed Transcription Lucy Aug. 26 Bangor 1854Dunbarton Aug. 29- 1854About Energinehim hard for me. I feel as if I did not get acquainted with him, and leam him to love me as I would have been glad to when he was here; what with the care of Percie and my other cares and labors, I found little time for fondling him. Percie walked across the room - several times four or five weeks ago, but has not thought of such a thing lately, We are all reading "Homes in the new World" - like reading it very much, but in some places there is a lowering, so to speak, of the Divine character, as in Longfellow's Golden Legend, which is almost shocking to the feelings. I have not said a word to Isaac about your labors. It must have been Mallie's doings. I guess she did'nt do anything very naughty, The pricker leaves were beautiful - much obliged. I shall try and enough more to make a card basket sometime. The carpenters are finishing the stable. Mother and I have a leetle idea, if Percie gets well enough before the weather is too cold, of going to Dunbarton with him, to atone in part for Anna's not going; but don't expect us - 'tis very doubtful. Much love to all from
