User-Contributed Transcription He went to Old Town every other day for a week, trying to by logs for the mill. It is so dry, the drives do not come down, and lumber is high and scarce. Dea. Thurston did last week - his son, Samuel S. is soon to be married to one of Mrs. Lee's nieces (Sparhawk) at Bucksport. Lidya (there I have spell'd that wrong - how many mistakes of all kinds I have made in this letter) McDonald was married recently. Lucy gets along pretty well her great trial seems to be writing Compositions. I hardly know whether it is best for her to stay another term or not. She has just got nicely begun and I rather think she had better. I am going to get a girl as soon as I can so Mother can go home a while. She hardly know whether to stay or come back. I do not feel willing to have her do the work longer. I think it is too hard for her. She ought to have an easy time - free from care. I shall send Jane to school while I keep a girl. I will try to make a better looking letter next time. I am in haste now - we are making you some shirts against you come home good bye - AffectionatelyLucy
