User-Contributed Transcription and neck show him to be a baby boy. I was never asked, "Is it a boy or a girl?" He has a wide awake, earnest, inquiring expression of countenance, and yet very placid, particularly his eye, which is quite large, and, I think, growing darker. His head is very large above his eyes and ears, full & high in front & projecting behind. In short he is a most wonderful & perfect little baby boy - ask his father if he is'nt! You know it is said there are but few perfect things in the world, one of which is the first baby! As to baby's dress - First; Isaac, you need'nt trouble Nettie because she makes many & various articles - she can't help it - their name is "legion", is'nt it Nettie? Why when my baby wore white, I had to allow a clean dress every day, and sometimes more - now, two aprons in a day - he does not drool nor throw up milk so much as a while ago, so I can keep his dresses sweet, and flannel does not show dirt like white.
