User-Contributed Transcription Bangor Nov. 11 . 1853.Dear Brother & Sister I cannot possibly tell whether I have written since receiving your last letter or not. If I have not, I thought a good deal about it, intended to, and finally thought I had, and so out it out of my mind, or rather let it pass out, for a few days. Not that you are out of my mind so long at a time, by any means, though. It is now before breakfast, though seven o'clock and later than we usually breakfast, but Samuel was out on his police duties till two o'clock last night, and he sleeps late. The little Percie is in his carraige at play. Isobel waiting for the folks to be ready for breakfast, and I am improving the few spare moments. Samuel and his brother watchmen as they came to the square at the foot of State street, heard a noise as of a man groaning, and following the sounds, found quite a clearly dreaded,[left-hand side and top] filled my sheet with nothings, as usual. I am not guilty of sending much blank paper, though I cannot boast of covering it with much that is valuable. How much I do find to do all the time. Do you get time to read Nettie? I cannot. But keeping house brings more care than boarding. Pickles, pressures or somethings all the time spoiling if not attended to. Do write very often to your ever affectionate sister Lucy. Samuel sends love - he is full of care and business preparations for winter, lumbering etc. many kisses for little _ _ _ _
