My hand trembles so I can hardly write - partly because I have been sweeping and partly because am afraid the stage will be along before I am ready for it! What will you say when I tell you that our brother Joseph sits by my side perusing & making remarks from "Vattel's law of Nations"! It is even so. He came home in company with S.W. Furber last Saturday. Expects to stay till next Sat. He thought to make his visit now, and then stay away next May, but 'twill never do. I can not think of it. I do not feel right to send a letter with so little in it, but have not time to write much, and thought you ought to know soon as possible the time decided on. Charles is helping Mr. Sargent & the other neighbors to build a boat for our ferry. Hiram is here yet, but do not much expect he will stay this summer. Almeda & children are well. Nimshi grows some. His name is Charlie Metcalf. I believe decidedly. A drefful little dried up poor looking little fellow. Hope he'll get smoothed out before you come home. Col. Lee has moved back to Milo. About six weeks since Mr. Bush's wife of Foxcroft died suddenly of Apoplexy. Last week Mr. Bush took unto himself the widow Leighton of F. to wife! What think of it?
