User-Contributed Transcription I called with Eliab over to see his Beecroft family, Saturday did not get out of the carriage. Well, I think I must leave one page at least for Mother and Samuel, good bye dear brother, do write often, your affectionate sister Lucy.My very dear Son As Lucy is the "ready writer" you will not complain that I give up most of the writing to her especially as you will be very much the gainer by it. She has written the "news - you cannot wonder or blame me for feeling a great deal of anxiety about your health, do use every precaution that is reasonable & be on the look out for a good chance somewhere else I should rather you would work for half as much pay somewhere in N.E. as you could command there than to have you stay there in that Savage, Log house, fever + ague place, dont you expect Eliab will get sick if he goes to N.Y. & all about South at this hot season of the yearCharles's man Christopher continued to get his pay for the time he had worked & then went off without saying any thing about it. C. was sorry he had not sent him away before for he didn't like him almost concluded to dismiss him a fortnight before He has a young Hart cousin to Albina that he liked very much but did not expect he could keep but a short time C sold his lambs 91 a piece, & his wool, I bought 3 barrels flour $4.50 per lb & &what are your wages, & what your expenses, where you are do come away from that fever & Ague place soon as you consistently can & do write more particularly about your own personal health comfort & feelings, do you get Eastern news much[left-hand side] Do you get any Down East Newspapers? get a chance if you can to mark on the European and North American when they get it agoing so as to be nearer home
