Mother sent him Flavel's "Christ knocking at the door." an excellent book. I think he will read it. He has been to singing school this winter. I think it has been a benefit to him_he seemed more lively and happy then usual. He and Albina sing considerable at home, which is, I think, beneficial to the little ones as well as to themselves. Charlie is a dear little fellow, so good, and loving everybody so well. Josie's disposition is very different_he is quick tempered and very impatient. Do you remember how he used to scream when we laid him on the lounge? He does just so now if everything does not suit him. He runs all about the house but does not talk at all. How many times Charlie said the morning we came away "You need'nt do home"_"I don't want you to do home"Almeda, her house and children are about usual. Lucy is a very amiable, pleasant & intelligent girl but I fear will be somewhat inefficient. James cuts the wood and does the chores as usual, but loves to plead off as of old, and his Mother rather likes to indulge him. As for Lizzie, she is the baby and spends most of her time amusing herself. They are all good, enjoy each other and love all the rest of us dearly. Lucy is coming here about the first of April to attend school. I think she will do well. Your V. came in good time & was very acceptable to help fit her out. Mr. Billington sent her $3.00 recently. It is very kind of him to remember her. I think
