User-Contributed Transcription Bangor July 24, 1854.Dear Sister Nettie Some good sisterly letter was received and read with joy saturday eve at about ten o'clock. We had worried some about you; it was so very foggy here, that we feared the boat might be detained on account of it and not get into Boston at the usual time, and so occasion trouble about meeting the cars; bit it seems you got home sooner even that you expected. Baby good too, sea not rough, Sabra not sick, and all things better than we feared. I am so glad, but sorry am I that you should find your parents in poor health. I hope that the coming home of the daughter and grandson will cheer and revive them greatly. It is a hot day, 1/2 past twelve o'clock. They have all been hot days since you went away, and very dry - not even[left-hand side and top] and I must stop. Do dear Nettie let us try to write often to each other. I wrote to Isaac a day or two after you went away. The ship has gone to sea. Samuel was on board when she started & without intending it went off down to Castine & home in the tow-boat. Is'nt it queer that you did not after all read the Martyr. I think you will have to come again and winter with Isaac & try to make out your visit & have a good time. It troubles me every time I think of it. I were so full of care it seems as if I did not do anything to make your visit pleasant. Love to Sabra. much love to your Father.
