User-Contributed Transcription Hampden July 20th 1849.Dear brother Isaac I acknowledge my fault, and beg your pardon most humbly for so long delaying to answer your letter of June 3rd, and so without further apology begin to write. From the note enclosed in Joseph's last letter you have learned of my recent visit to Milo etc. I returned last Monday the 16th inst. Mr. Cutts drives the stage this summer, and in consideration of money lent him by Samuel, he lets me ride to Milo whenever I please for nothing, so I intend to avail myself of the opportunity frequently. Eliab and Charkes Dennett came to Milo while I was there, & staid three or four days. By some accident the horse run over Charles and bruised him considerably, but he was well enough to come back with Eliab. Also a naughty cow hooked brother Charles, and broke one of his ribs, so he had to give up work a few days, but not long enough for it to get well. It is getting better now. Moreover a little boy down to the boarding house had his leg broken badly last night in five or six places, by a log rolling on him. Has a pretty bad time with it. I can't help feeling anxious every day about Samuel for fear some accident will befall him at the Mill. But I know it is wrong to trouble myself about it - he is in the hands of One who will do all things well. As for Joseph, our poor dear brother Joseph, I don't know what to say. He was getting along fairly, and we all felt quite encouraged about him, before he came to Hampden and while he was here, but we think he exerted himself to much while here, and got too much fatigued going home. He has
