User-Contributed Transcription Milo July 5th 1849.Dear Brother Isaac These Milo people have most miserable ink so I don't know but I shall give up writing. Have got Almeda's, but 'tis very little better. Guess I'll only write a little & finish my letter after I got to Hampden. I deferred writing a few days thinking to write here with Joseph, but shall "back out," I think. Samuel & I came up Tues. afternoon July 3rd. He went back next day. I am to stay long as I please, which will probably be about a fortnight. Samuel has helped Mr. Cutts buy the stage line $200. worth and had it in the bargain that I should ride to and from Milo as often as I pleased, free of cost, this summer. So I intend to improve the opportunity. All things go on here about as usual. Charlie is a lively roguish little fellow, stealing away a good deal of everybody's time but Joseph's. He won't care for any body, but will study and read just as much as his strength will permit every day. He has been worse, owing to unusual and undue fatigue while at Hampden and returning from there, but is better now. Samuel and I are yet boarding at Mr. Crosby's, having capital times, and enjoying ourself very much. Mr. Crosby has Macauley's History, which I shall commence reading immediately on my return, as he has just furnished it himself.
